Music for All supports Make Music Day UK

Music for All is very pleased to support Make Music Day UK on 21 June 2017. Make Music Day UK is an annual UK wide, free day of music held in public spaces, from squares to libraries, bandstands to school halls and arts centres, always held on the summer solstice, 21 June.

This is the UK’s contribution to the international summer solstice music celebration which first started in France in 1982 and now takes place in over 120 countries and 750 cities across the world. Make Music Day UK aims to turn the country into a stage, and offer a full spectrum of performers the opportunity to display their musical skills.

A host of different venues will be looking for musicians of all ages, kinds and musical genres to fill their locations with music.

Make Music Day UK is:

  • performed by anyone, enjoyed by everyone.
  • A way for everybody in the UK to celebrate the summer solstice, enjoying the longest day of the year, while sampling a range of the fantastic music-making which goes on all year round.
  • A DIY celebration of music when almost any way to make music can and will happen.
  • A chance for anyone to have a go at singing or trying an instrument, and finding out how they, too, can become musicians.
  • Make Music Day UK is open to music makers of all ages, skill levels, and musical persuasions.

When and where will Make Music Day UK take place?

Make Music Day UK will take place on the summer solstice, Wednesday 21 June 2017, in different spaces and places all over the UK.
