A touching Learn to Play Day story

‘Harp on Wight’ held a Learn to Play Day event at Ryde Library on the Isle of Wight. The event organiser, Diana described it as “One of the most magical days of her entire life”…

The team met 5 year old Millie, who was completely entranced by the Harp, and played for a full 35 minutes. Her parents were totally transfixed and overwhelmed and somewhat emotional to see the effect this had on this small child. It was a truly unforgettable moment.

It’s been life changing for that family, and possibly also the Harp on Wight team! Here’s Millie with a little admirer – he also had a go and was – at one year old, their youngest visitor.

What a week of Music Making in the UK!

Last Wednesday saw the launch of Make Music Day in the UK, a celebration of music making event that takes place in 120 Countries around the World.

We hosted 140 music making events all over the UK, from Aberdeen to Swanage, Swansea to Norwich, and everywhere in between!

And then we held our sixth, annual Learn to Play Day at 100 music shops and other venues across the Country to give the general public free music lessons.

We have had an amazing few days, met some wonderful people and supported thousands of people to either start, continue or return to music making!

Many thanks to all the hard-working venues, shops and musicians that supported the week, we could not have done it without you.

And….big thanks to all our partners and sponsors for the events including Making Music, Classic fm, the Musicians’ Union, Music Sales Group, the Arts Council England and the Take it Away scheme.

Plus…..a very special thanks to The NAMM Foundation who supported both events!

VOX rock up at Beatles Fest and support Music for All!

VOX Amps took part in a one day Beatles fan festival in London to tell the story of how the fab four began using their iconic amplifiers in the early 1960’s and how the AC30 combo helped define their sound as well as other British bands who led the “British Invasion” in the mid-1960’s.
Taking place during the May Bank Holiday, the event hosted a raft of Beatles tribute bands and special interest features including John Lennon’s psychedelic yellow painted Rolls Royce.
VOX are taking part in various activities during 2017 to mark the company’s 60th anniversary.
VOX donated a classic AC30 Custom for a raffle on the day which raised almost £800 for our charity!

Nina, our new Ambassador!

We are very proud to announce Nina Schofield as a new Ambassador for our charity. Nina said “Music is the universal language that connects everyone. Throughout our lives our memories become intertwined with certain songs and for that music becomes a friend as well as an outlet. That’s why the work Music For All is doing is so vital. Learning to play an instrument develops confidence, helps knit friendships and opens us up to new forms of creative expression. Plus it’s incredibly fun and rewarding!”
And that is not all!
She will be helping with the Learn to Play Day weekend at the Yamaha Music London shop.
