Music for All was pleased to support musician and teacher Juliet in her ambition to bring free cello lessons to a local primary school and a group of refugee children.
With the half-size cellos awarded she can now give free cello lessons. Her lessons build self-confidence and focus, and help with listening and awareness skills. With these instruments the primary school group have already performed to the whole school.
As a professional Cellist I wanted to bring the opportunity to learn in a group setting, for free, to those who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity. I am very grateful for this grant and the opportunity it has given me to start these groups. Music education is vital for a child’s development.
Over the past 5 years the Music for All has awarded over 168 grants to schools and community based music groups across the UK.
These awards have supported many types of initiative including youth orchestras, brass and ukulele bands, youth clubs, drop in centres and charity initiatives such as the one-handed musical trust.
