Music for All is very pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chair of Trustees.
Tony Followell will be joining the board of Trustees as Chair from 1 May 2021 to work with the existing Board on the expansion and development of the charity. A trained French Horn player, Tony joins Music for All with over 30 years of music experience gained at the BBC and Royal Opera House. He was a senior BBC TV producer and director across some of its most prestigious music events including Live 8, Cardiff Singer of the World, Proms and T in the Park. Most recently Tony was Head of Broadcast & Distribution, Audiences & Media at the Royal Opera House and has also been a Trustee on the Board of Music Theatre Wales for several years.
Music for All is dedicated to supporting disadvantaged music makers across the UK and Tony will bring new skills and knowledge to help the charity embrace greater diversity and reach new donors. Tony’s understanding of the music industry and history of appealing to new audiences through partnership and collaboration will give the charity a fresh approach as it advances its ambitious plans for growth.
Music for All’s current acting Chair Simon Pitt said – “We know Tony has the passion and drive to help Music for All grow and develop well beyond its current size so it can support many more disadvantaged music makers and achieve greater recognition for the wide ranging and considerable benefits of music making”
Tony said – “I’m honoured to be joining such an important charity at such a pivotal time. The life-changing power and social impact of music making has perhaps never been more widely understood than today but for too many people it remains out of reach. Music for All is here to change that and I look forward to working with the board, staff and donors to ensure that as many people as possible have the chance to experience music making through the grants and instruments Music for All provides.”
