Music for All's The Power of Music Fund 2026
As part of The Power of Music Fund, Music for All will continue working to bring the proven benefits of music to thousands of people living with dementia in 2026. Organisations previously supported in 2024 and 2025 will be eligible to apply for further financial support in May 2026 to continue their projects for those living with dementia, their carers, and families.
Examples of funding uses include continuing a dementia focussed choir established with a previous PoM support, room hire costs, travel and refreshments as well as specialist music making support.
In 2024, 32 projects were supported, engaging almost 6,500 people. In 2025, 16 projects were awarded up to £2,000 each. Here are just a few inspiring quotes from people involved in 2024 projects:
‘These music groups are brilliant. My mum loves the singing and dancing. The volunteers are wonderful, so caring.’ family member
‘We’re so glad we found this group. Just because someone may have dementia does not mean that they can’t join in or play an active part. It’s been wonderful to find a group where everyone is treated as an equal.’ carer
‘This group has been a godsend — just what we needed. I thought I’d never see him how he was again.’ family member
‘He was very lonely at times. The friends he made here this past year added light and comfort to his daily life. I’ll forever be grateful.’ family member
The Power of Music Fund, along with the digital resource platform Music Can, continues to support grassroots dementia groups in making music a part of personalised care for people living with dementia. The funds can be used to cover basic costs of utilising music to alleviate the symptoms of dementia, thereby helping improve the lives of the 944,000 people in the UK currently living with dementia [1]; Music Can allows users to search for activities, learn more about music care and find nearby support via a directory.
Charlotte Osborn-Forde, Chief Executive of NASP: ‘We are delighted that Music for All is continuing to support grassroots music and dementia projects as part of the Power of Music Fund. These projects can make a huge difference, boosting wellbeing, aiding cognition and helping to create a sense of community. By bringing together funding and connecting local organisations to the NHS, the Power of Music Fund aims to ensure that many more people can benefit.’
Sonali Banerjee, General Manager of Music for All, adds: ‘Music for All is delighted to have the opportunity to continue supporting some of these inspiring projects into 2026 allowing these groups to continue to develop their work, using music to ease the debilitating effects of dementia for many.’
