Learn to Play is Music for All’s annual flagship event - the biggest free music making weekend of the year!
We work with a variety of music providers to open their doors in offering a wide range of free music lessons and experiences across the weekend, welcoming people of all ages and abilities to participate.
Running for over a decade, the event aims to inspire, encourage and enable both new and lapsed music makers to enjoy the benefits of making music. It connects and champions UK music providers such as community groups, retail music shops and music teachers through a shared celebration.
In recent years we have developed an online tutorial programme featuring beginner techniques, top tips and demos by professional musicians available to watch all year round on our YouTube channel. We have also introduced an annual Learn to Play award for those seeking financial support to continue their learning following engagement with a Learn to Play activity.
Music for All would like to thank the NAMM Foundation for their generosity in supporting Learn to Play ’24.
Learn to Play will be back in '25 - Look out for updates!

"Creatively expressing myself means so much to me and I couldn’t imagine a life without the ability to do so.
