Music for All awarded two high-quality pianos for Paragon’s inclusive music programme that allows disabled musicians to create, rehearse and perform their own music with more confidence, independence and creative freedom.
Since receiving the keyboards, they have been in continuous use in both one-to-one sessions and group workshops, offering music-making opportunities in Glasgow and in rural areas like Stranraer, Dumfries, Annan, New Galloway, Kirkcudbright, Newton Stewart and Sanquhar. Opportunities here are limited due to the lack of access to reliable, professional instruments. The instruments offered disabled young people the opportunity to develop their own musical voices through composition, improvisation and performance.
They say: “The keyboards will continue to be a core resource within Paragon’s mentoring and workshop programmes, supporting new cohorts of disabled musicians in the years ahead. They have strengthened our ability to deliver high-quality, inclusive music sessions across both urban and rural settings and will remain central to our creative practice. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Music for All, its Trustees and supporters. Your generosity has made a tangible difference, helping remove barriers to music-making and enabling disabled musicians to express themselves creatively, confidently and independently.”
