With support from Music for All, MAC Makes Music and Solihull Youth Justice have created life-changing opportunities for young people through music. The project engaged over 50 participants in music-making sessions, including one-on-one mentoring for young people referred by the West Midlands Crime Reduction Unit.
A key highlight was the opportunity for participants to record their own music in MAC’s professional studios – an experience that built confidence and inspired aspirations in music and production. One participant described it as “the best day of my life”.
This initiative not only fostered creativity and self-expression but also provided real career pathways, with some participants securing roles in music production. We are proud to have supported this work, which has now been shortlisted for Music Mark’s Talk into Action Award, recognising its outstanding contribution to widening access to music education.
