60 children of Teversham Primary School received the opportunity to take part in recorder and ukulele lessons, singing in a choir, and a special afternoon of group music making—thanks to a Music for All award.
For these children, the funding has opened a door to music, confidence and achievement, and gave them not only a sense of belonging but also the desire to keep playing.
As one pupil said “Learning the Ukulele is fun, but difficult, but I am really happy to be doing it.” Another pupil loved hearing how the music came together when everyone played in time.
The group music-making afternoon was a particular highlight, with pupils describing how much they enjoyed learning together, helping one another and hearing the full “orchestra” come to life.
Another highlight was the mini concert that stood at the end of 30 weeks of music sessions. There, the children could show their families and loved ones what they had learnt.
