We are delighted to introduce three new trustees to the Music for All board. Metin Epozdemir, Emma Jepson and Sarah Turnbull will be invaluable as the charity grows and evolves. Each of them bring unique skills and expertise – we can’t wait for them to get started with us!
Metin has extensive experience in credit risk management as well as a passion for music as a guitar student – the perfect fit! Here’s what he has to say:
‘Music enriches lives. I’m honoured to join the Music for All board and support its mission to make music accessible to everyone. It’s fantastic to be part of a charity helping more people experience the joy and connection that music brings.’
Emma brings a wealth of experience in senior roles within the music industry, with expertise in building relationships with stakeholders, supporters, and partners to drive impact and sustainability. She writes:
‘I’m delighted to be joining Music for All as a trustee. I am passionate about supporting music creators and helping more people experience the joy and transformative power of music. I look forward to supporting the charity’s mission and working with others to make music accessible to everyone.’
Sarah is a senior solicitor, currently working in-house at a telecommunications company. Sarah says:
‘I am fascinated by the power of music to improve lives. As a lapsed musician I remain very much a music lover constantly inspired by the arts and creativity… I am honoured to bring my expertise to support Music for All as trustee.’
Whilst we are extremely excited to be welcoming new trustees sadly we are saying farewell to two valued members of the board. Both Ros Kellaway and Jill Shevlin have been invaluable members of the board, contributing their expertise and valuable time.
Jill has been involved with Music for All since its days as part of the Music Industries Association in 2003. She was pivotal in the launch of the Learn to Play Stand, which has since developed into our flagship Learn to Play Weekend. Jill joined the board in 2019 and has devoted considerable time in revising promotional material, and working with the board colleagues through Music for All’s journey to becoming an independent charity in 2021. Jill writes:
‘After 6 years at Music for All, I cannot believe the distance we’ve travelled since we became an independent charity in January 2021, with Music for All helping an ever growing number of disadvantaged music makers realise their musical dreams. The stories of our award recipients are always inspiring. The ability of music making to transform lives shines through all their stories and this is the best reward of being a Trustee of Music for All.’
Ros’ involvement with Music for All also dates back to its days as part of the Music Industries Association who were a long-standing client to Eversheds law firm. Ros’ legal expertise was critical when drawing up Music for All’s first constitution, allowing us to become an independent charity. As risk management has become even more important for charities, Ros’ advice has been invaluable. She says:
‘This charity which has come so far, and still has so much more to do – more work with the young, the elderly, the lonely, those suffering from mental illness, people in prison – all can benefit from the life changing power of music making and MFA is still at the beginning of that journey. I have enormously enjoyed my part in it – thank you MFA for having me!’
